Latest Updates from Our Project:

Change in email address + other transitions
over 1 year ago – Wed, Sep 21, 2022 at 02:39:57 AM

Hi backers!

In one of our previous updates, we announced that our team is now Playlogue Creations. It’s been about a year since we’ve completed the fulfilment, and we’re currently streamlining our business. Some changes you might have noticed that took place:

1. Redirection of flyaway.sg to playlogue.sg

We’ll be merging content on flyaway.sg with playlogue.sg, so the information will be all in one place. We’re trying our best to restore the appendix and AR birds info, so please bear with us!

2. Change in creator’s name on Kickstarter
We’ve done a transfer for this account from Tuber to Playlogue Creations.

3. Change in email address

We’ve moved all enquiries to this email address instead: [email protected]. If you have contacted us before via [email protected] or [email protected] and would like to surface the past correspondence, kindly forward us the corresponding email so that we can follow up from there. We will be closing these two email addresses soon and will not have access to the past correspondences.

4. Reminder about our socials
If you didn’t already know, you can join the Fly-A-Way Facebook group to post questions, discuss rules and strategies, or share some of your iconic Fly-A-Way moments! You can also tag us on Facebook or Instagram in your photos of the game, or subscribe to our newsletter if you’d like updates on our future projects.

Thanks for your patience as we sort through these changes, and for your continued support!

Cheers,

Playlogue team

Reflection on Fly-A-Way's Kickstarter journey
over 2 years ago – Wed, Oct 20, 2021 at 11:42:31 AM

Hello backers,

It’s been 11 months since we launched Fly-A-Way on Kickstarter (time really flies) and we’ve learnt so much from you. We want to share some of the insights we’ve gained from this Kickstarter journey, along with data from the post-campaign survey we sent to you.

We got 93 responses. Thank you! We’ve also compiled feedback from comments and emails we’ve received.

Design and information on our page

Getting the user journey of a Kickstarter page right can be quite challenging because of the layers of information that need to be presented on one page, from the story behind a project to the nitty-gritty of shipping. So we were glad to find that all respondents felt that the flow of information was clear and the majority (98%) said the amount of information was sufficient. 75% of you also shared that the inclusion of card sizes was useful.

Nevertheless, based on comments, private messages and email queries, we know that there were some backers who were not clear on the fact that shipping would be charged post-campaign on BackerKit.

We made sure to mention this on the main page and the pledge sidebar. But some people, who might not be familiar with Kickstarter, could have still been confused, expecting a shipping price to be reflected immediately at the pledge confirmation page on Kickstarter.

We wonder if there was any way we could have made the post-campaign shipping on BackerKit even clearer to people. If you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear from you in the comment section.

Pledge tiers

You can find online varied opinions on whether having single or multiple pledge tiers is better for Kickstarter. Our survey seems to bear out a similar mixed response.

Nevertheless, we do know from some comments we’ve received that certain backers felt penalised for being late and missing out on the limited early bird pledges. We were mainly thinking about how to create a fun experience for backers when we included items like the customised portrait photo for early backers.

It was meant to be a simple gesture, but we’ll be sure to think more about special incentives for future projects and how best they can be incorporated in Kickstarter campaigns while being inclusive. We will also explore how a single pledge tier could work for whatever goals we set for future games.

Communication with backers

We tried to reply to backers’ comments and emails quickly, usually within the next business day, taking into account time zone differences. However, some replies took longer, especially when we needed to check the delivery status of the games with our partners.

As for updates, we posted frequently during the Kickstarter campaign, before dropping to about one announcement each month.

We wanted to update you whenever we had all or most of the necessary information, so that we did not end up replying to only one group of backers and cumulatively spamming everybody.

How did we fare on updates, according to our survey? 94% of you found that the number of updates was sufficient. However, opinions on the frequency of our updates were generally mixed.

There was a slight majority of people who preferred short and more frequent updates over comprehensive but less frequent updates, while the rest had no preference for either option. Perhaps the ideal frequency of updates is something that can be quite subjective.

We have received some comments that the shipping updates could be more specific when it comes to the status of orders. For instance, instead of just saying the shipment is on its way to a fulfilment centre, we could have given extra details like it being out at sea, just reaching the port or in the midst of being transported from the port to the fulfilment centre.

We think doing this might mean giving backers a lot more information to process, but it would be good as a way of keeping you as involved as possible.

Backer surveys

Our BackerKit surveys were open from 6 January to 24 January 2021. We had 85% of backers who completed the survey by the last day. About 83% of you shared that the time given to fill the surveys was sufficient.

We are glad to note that we only have 20 backers who have yet to respond to us as of today, despite reminders. This number represents about 2% of total pledges when measured against the 891 backers we have in total.

We will keep aside copies of our game for these backers for at least 6 months or until the retail copies of our Kickstarter edition of the game runs out (whichever comes later).

Estimation of timeline

We initially wanted to set May 2021 as the estimated delivery time of the game, but pushed this back to June 2021 to give ourselves a buffer for any unexpected delays. It’s a good thing we did this because the final revisions we did ended up delaying our shipping.

Some of the changes made were covered in our previous blog post here. Each revision, small on its own, ended up snowballing into more checks we had to do later. Making just one change to the Fowl Play font, for instance, meant ensuring it was reflected on all cards in this category.

Despite the delay in sending the final artwork, our manufacturer helped us expedite the production process. It was the shipping process that caught us off-guard in May. As shared in this update, it took us about one month to secure a slot for the UK ocean freight shipment, which meant that it was impossible to meet our delivery timeline.

We wanted to hold off the fulfilment for the rest of the countries so that we could match it with the delivery timeline for the UK and EU shipments. But we chose not to because of how uncertain shipping estimates were then. And it was possible, during the time of the pandemic, that in waiting for one shipping region to settle itself, another secure one could end up being delayed too.

Overall, we started fulfilment in June 2021 and completed it for everyone in September 2021.

Selling Kickstarter edition

We’re happy to know that 98% of you from the survey and others from comment threads have given us the blessing to sell the extra Kickstarter edition stocks we have! The sale from these games would help us offset some of the costs we’ve incurred from shipping during the pandemic.

Most of you should have received your game(s) by now, but if you haven’t, please reach out to us!

Thank you for all the additional comments and suggestions on bringing Fly-A-Way to life and to your doorsteps. We are humbled by your support.

Play and Tell—Why Games and Stories Matter for Wildlife Conservation Webinar

On a side note, we’d like to share that we will be running a webinar with BirdLife International, the knowledge partner for Fly-A-Way, and the Nature Society (Singapore). Admission is free and you can hear more about our game, birding and why we need creative storytelling to champion migratory bird conservation.

The webinar is on 16 October at 3pm (GMT+8). Sign up here!

P/S Did you know that the World Migratory Bird Day falls on every second Saturday of October?

Shipping update #4: UK, EU, Rest of Europe and Canada
over 2 years ago – Tue, Aug 17, 2021 at 08:12:11 PM

Hi everyone

Good news for our backers from the UK, EU and the rest of Europe!

Your shipments are at the UK and EU hubs and we’ll be starting fulfilment this month. Our fulfilment partner ShipQuest is working on the packaging and you should receive your rewards by the end of August or early September, depending on your location.

As for the Canada shipment, backers’ rewards have reached the local fulfilment hub, but we are still sorting out the exact details for fulfilment. We’re currently liaising with VFI Asia to get updates on timelines for packaging and delivery. We appreciate your patience!

For all other backers, you should have received your rewards. We hope you enjoy playing Fly-A-Way!

Shipping update #3 – More rewards have been shipped!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Jul 28, 2021 at 07:12:41 PM

Hi backers!

We’re excited to see more and more of you receive your copies of Fly-A-Way! We’re working hard to make sure that everyone else gets their rewards fulfilled soon, and would like to share the latest update on shipping to different regions.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the game and see your unboxing videos. Tag us @playlogue.sg and use the hashtag #flyawaygame on Instagram and Facebook.

UK, EU and rest of Europe

The UK shipment has reached the UK port and will be transported to ShipQuest’s warehouse for fulfilment this week. This shipment contains copies of Fly-A-Way for backers in the UK and non-EU member states.

The EU shipment left the UK bonded warehouse last week and will take around 2 weeks to reach Germany, assuming there is no major backlog of shipments entering German customs.

All backer surveys have been locked for the UK, the EU and the rest of Europe. However, if you need to update your address, please contact us as soon as possible and we will inform ShipQuest of the change.

Most of Asia, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia

VFI Asia has shipped most of the rewards for this group of countries to the respective hubs via ocean freight. Shipments have already reached the hubs in Canada, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. Deliveries are ongoing and some of you may have already received your games. For those who haven’t, you can check the shipment’s estimated arrival dates below.

China, Hong Kong, US and the Rest of the World

All rewards have been sent to t backers from these countries. If you have not received your reward or have faced any other difficulties, please contact us at [email protected].

On damaged boxes

We’re sorry to hear that a handful of you have received damaged boxes of Fly-A-Way. If any of you have experienced the same issue, please get in touch with us at [email protected] and send us pictures of the damage.

As we work to get you a replacement, we’d like to request that you hold on to your damaged copies first. We’d like to minimise waste and are finding new homes for these games.

Incomplete surveys

There are still 22 backers who have yet to complete their BackerKit surveys. If you are one of them, please do so immediately, so that we can fulfil your rewards. If you need the link to your backer survey, reach out to us and we’d be happy to send it to you.

Some of you might see an adjustment to your shipping fees as shipping costs have increased significantly since January 2021. This increase, which we have kept as low as we can, helps us cover part of the costs on our end.

Lastly, we’d like to thank everyone for your patience as we work to get Fly-A-Way to all of you. We’re so excited that more and more of you can start playing our beloved game on migratory birds!
