Shipping update #2
almost 3 years ago – Fri, Jun 25, 2021 at 08:09:42 AM

Hi friends,

Here are the latest shipping updates for backers from different regions.

1. UK, EU and the rest of Europe

The UK shipment of Fly-A-Way is on its way to the UK warehouse for fulfilment! We’re waiting for updates on the shipment of Fly-A-Way to the EU and the rest of Europe, which will be delivered from a warehouse in Germany. Once all the shipments for this region reach their respective warehouses and are ready for last-mile delivery, we’ll share another update, before we lock in your addresses.

2. Most of Asia, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia

Shipments to backers from these parts of the world are scheduled to be sent out to their respective fulfilment hubs via sea freight between now to mid-July. This will take about 3 to 4 weeks, before the respective hubs start on last-mile delivery. You will receive an email from VFI Asia on your package status once your package has left its warehouse. We apologise for the delay in shipments, as the overall shipping industry is facing delays all over the world due to the pandemic.

Games packed for shipment

3. China, Hong Kong, US and the rest of the world

We’re not using any fulfilment centres for orders from the US and the rest of the world, thus they will be delivered via air freight. Because of the shorter estimated delivery times for this mode of carriage, it could mean that you will be one of the first to receive Fly-A-Way. You should also have received an email from VFI Asia on your package status.

For backers from regions mentioned in points 2 and 3, you may email VFI Asia at [email protected] for any queries on your package, e.g. tracking or damaged games.

Squawk us some love online

Thanks for your continued support of Fly-A-Way. It’s what’s kept us going as we navigate the challenges with shipping our game during this pandemic.

We’d love to see your reactions and unboxing videos once you receive the game. If you’re sharing them on social media, do use our hashtags #flyawaysg and tag us @playlogue.sg. You can also share your thoughts on BoardGameGeek.

Again, thank you for your patience!

We are launching a new game company: Playlogue Creations
almost 3 years ago – Tue, Jun 01, 2021 at 12:46:16 AM

Hi friends,

As mentioned in our previous post,  we are working with our fulfilment partners to get Fly-A-Way to you and will keep you updated on the progress.

In the meantime, we have an announcement to make regarding our team. Since working on Fly-A-Way and reaching out to all of you backers from around the world, we have been thinking hard about how we can continue to be part of the gaming world that we love so much and have decided to launch a new company.

We are now Playlogue Creations. Our name, which is a portmanteau of “play” and “dialogue”, reflects our aim of enriching conversations through game design and storytelling.

This conception of ourselves is intimately tied to our experience of developing Fly-A-Way, where we have collaborated with BirdLife International as our knowledge partner and have had the privilege of connecting with all of you backers.

We have thoroughly enjoyed hearing from you and getting your feedback to improve our game. We hope to continue more of such conversations with our future games.

What does Playlogue Creations mean for backers?

We would like to assure backers that our new company has no bearing on the production of Fly-A-Way and the core team is still the same: Lynette, Oon Hong, Simon, Iris and Key.

That being said, we feel it is important to be transparent about where we are as a company. When you receive your copy of Fly-A-Way, you will see the Playlogue logo displayed alongside Tuber’s. This is because we will continue to work with our former colleagues in fulfilling any contractual matters that were originally slated for Tuber alone.

Playlogue Creations will still be under parent company Potato Productions, as we originally were with Tuber. Essentially, Playlogue Creations and Tuber will now be sister companies. We are still close with our former colleagues, who carry on the work of an editorial and design consultancy.

Both of our companies are united in seeing the production of Fly-A-Way through for backers.

Have a playlogue with us!

By working with gamers, game designers and game distributors, we have learnt a lot about not just what goes into developing a game but what goes into giving a game life by connecting with communities locally and abroad. We are still learning and would like to invite all of you to be part of our journey as we create more games.

We’ll be making more announcements about upcoming projects and we would also like to invite you to subscribe to our newsletter Playlogue: Level Up, which we will be using to share about our game design experiences, while also sharing about game industry trends and insights.

The main focus areas of our newsletter, following from our experiences with Fly-A-Way, will be on social design, gamification and game communities. Our first issue will be launched later this week. Subscribe here to read it first.

As we move forward with our new company, we will also be looking to partner game designers and all who see the value of games in enriching conversations  on different issues.

If you have an idea you would like to share with us or a project you’d like to work together on, reach out to us at [email protected] or our social media pages:

Shipping update
almost 3 years ago – Sun, May 30, 2021 at 06:56:34 PM

Hi friends

Shipping has been a real challenge during this pandemic and we would like to be upfront with you about this and provide with you as much information as we can.

We are currently working with ShipQuest to fulfil orders from the UK and Europe, and VFI Asia to fulfil orders from the rest of the world.

UK, EU and rest of Europe

Shipments for backers from the UK, EU and rest of Europe will be sent via sea freight to fulfilment hubs in the UK and Germany. Sea freights usually take around 4 to 6 weeks to reach their destination countries, before taking another 1 to 2 weeks to clear customs. Only after this will copies of the game from these freights be delivered to fulfilment hubs for delivery to backers.

Bad news: We’ve been trying to secure a space for our UK shipment since early May, but have found this to be difficult. From what we understand, there have been many delays in  shipments leaving China. Ports are busier than usual and new ships are not able to enter. As a result, freight costs have risen, but rest assured that we’re doing everything we can to get the shipments out as soon as possible.

Good news: The EU shipment to Germany is already on its way. It will stop over at a UK bonded warehouse before going to the German fulfilment hub.

Asia and rest of the world

The games for backers from Asia and the rest of the world are already at VFI’s warehouse. Most of the Asia orders will be shipped to various fulfilment hubs in Asia via sea freight, before they are delivered to backers.

We’ll be soon locking in your addresses for fulfilment by VFI. VFI will then inform you once your copy of Fly-A-Way has left its warehouse.

Today is the last time we will be able to fill shipping addresses for backers from Asia and the rest of the world. After this, backers who have not updated their addresses might incur additional shipping costs. Do complete your backer surveys, if you have yet to.

As we get further updates on shipping, we will be sure to keep you informed. We appreciate your patience and continued support.

Production: completed. Next stage: fulfilment
almost 3 years ago – Wed, May 12, 2021 at 02:06:15 AM

Hi friends,

This is a short update to share that the production of Fly-A-Way has been completed and copies of the game are being transferred to our fulfilment partners.

We found it hard to contain our excitement when we got shots from our manufacturer of the game being assembled and packed.

Once copies of Fly-A-Way have reached our fulfilment partners, we will get a better estimate of delivery times, which we will share with you.

We’re hoping disruption, if any, is minimal during shipping, and will keep you updated with news from our fulfilment hubs in different regions.

Till then, have a squawking good day!

Adjustment to linen finishing + note on sleeving Fly-A-Way cards
almost 3 years ago – Thu, May 06, 2021 at 01:50:40 PM

Hi friends,

While working on the production of Fly-A-Way, we committed ourselves to making a quality product, while doing our best to manage costs for different components and specifications.

Doing regular checks with our manufacturer and looking through the samples, we are happy to say that Fly-A-Way is largely taking shape as expected. However, there is one area in which we have had to make an adjustment.

We had always wanted to provide linen finishing for our game and we have been able to do this for our map board, event board and all of our different game cards. Compared to our prototype, we can definitely say that the look and feel of Fly-A-Way has improved and we thank all of our backers for helping us achieve this.

Unfortunately, in accounting for the costs of manufacturing the different parts of Fly-A-Way, we weren’t able to provide linen finishing for the game box. We apologise for this.

We hope, though, that backers would be better able to enjoy the linen finishing with the game cards and boards that they would regularly hold and interact with during the game itself. During our playtests, we found that, in a small but palpable way, the linen texture helped with link placement by better keeping links on the map board.

We would like to assure backers that, despite this adjustment we had to make for Fly-A-Way, the game as a whole is being produced with regular oversight and care.

Tested: 50 micron-thick sleeves for Fly-A-Way cards

In our last Kickstarter update, we mentioned that we received our pre-production sample and would be reviewing it to see if the artwork and components are in order.

Everything seems to have checked out and we would also like to report that we sleeved all of our cards and they fit into the box, along with the game boards.

The thickness of the card sleeves we used is 50 microns. Anything with this measurement or below should be good for the space allocated in our box.

One of our backers who had looked at the video of our blank sample had asked if premium sleeved-cards would fit. Unfortunately, because of their greater thickness, they might not, at least in the card trays.

As we had mentioned to him, though, in the long section holding the game pieces, there is extra space for people to store game components they buy on their own or excess premium-sleeved cards.

Thank you, backers, for your patience, as we work through the production process. We will be sure to keep you updated as we go along.
